Who We Are
The Riverside Sportsmen’s Association (herein after RSA) is a private non-profit community based recreation and shooting club dedicated to the protection, conservation and propagation of wildlife in Okanogan County. The RSA owns and provides a shooting range for its members and their guests at 293 Pharr Road, Riverside, WA, 98849.
History
On January 27, 1947 a group of Okanogan men and women formed the Riverside Sportsmen’s Association and adopted a constitution and a set of by-laws.
On March 24, 1948 the RSA signed an agreement for incorporation as a non-profit organization to promote good sportsmanship and protect and improve hunting and fishing conditions in Okanogan County.
On September 3, 1959 Willard C. Fritz donated 21 acres of land to the RSA to build a clubhouse and a shooting range. Over the many decades since, members of the RSA have worked together to improve the clubhouse and range.
On April 5, 1984 our Constitution and Bylaws were amended to reflect changing times and on February 16, 2000 our Constitution and Bylaws were again amended by unanimous vote of those in attendance at our business meeting.
Over the next two decades, under the leadership of Lonnie Scott as President and William T. Chandler as Secretary-Treasurer, the RSA continued to serve its members and the Okanogan community. We are particularly grateful to the dedication and integrity of William T. (Bill) Chandler who did so much to make the Riverside Sportsmen’s Association what it is today.

Activities
From the beginning, the RSA has fostered and promoted firearm safety and marksmanship classes with a special emphasis on teaching young people about the safe and competent use of firearms.
The RSA has a long history of providing Hunter Safety Classes and clinics to teach competitive firearm shooting. Groups such as 4H clubs, the NRA and the CMP have held matches at the RSA range.
The RSA range does not have a range master or safety officer on duty to enforce firearm safety rules or range rules. Instead, it is each member’s duty to obey all Safety Rules and Range Rules. Safety Rules and RSA Range Rules are conspicuously posted at numerous places at the range and at each shooting station.
Members may invite guests to the range. Any member who invites a guest is responsible for personally supervising that guest and ensuring that the guest follows all safety and range rules. Failure to follow Firearm Safety Rules or Range Rules are grounds for revocation of membership.
